A NEW music festival is to be staged on the Island to raise awareness of mental health and quash the stigma surrounding it.
Fairweather Festival, taking place on Saturday, September 2, at Los Altos Park, Sandown, will raise money for the mental health charity Mind, while treating Islanders to performances from some of the UK's biggest and best up-and-coming talent.
The festival will feature two stages - Over the Hill and Cabin in the Woods - hosting bands, DJs, spoken word and comedy, catering for all tastes in creative talent.
There will also be amusements, bars, food stalls, carnival antics, animal petting, a photo booth and much more.
Organiser Callum Fairweather said: "I have chosen to support the charity Mind for various reasons.
"I, alongside others extremely close to me, have suffered from depression and anxiety. I want to use my love of events and live music to make a difference to our Island and future generations.
"If I have one goal with this project, it's to quash the stigma of people appearing weak to others if they suffer or speak about their mental health issues."
Fairweather Festival is looking for sponsors and traders to support the event. Contact the organisers by e-mailing hello@fairweatherfestival.co.uk
Tickets will be £20 for the day, with student tickets priced at £10, and are expected to go on sale in June, alongside announcements of who is performing.
Announcements will be made on the festival's website: www.fairweatherfestival.co.uk
