LOCAL boy and St Albans City top-scorer Simon Martin has stated that, despite seeing former club captain Derek Brown move to Bedford Town, he has no intention of following him out of Clarence Park.

"I am going to stick it out until February 20th, when it's finally decided one way or the other.

He did admit Brown's departure has put a dampener on the player's spirits, with only "10 or 12" players from the first squad attending Tuesday night's (January 29) training.

"Derek was an influential player and we all hoped he'd stay on. I just hope it doesn't spark a mass exodus."

However, the word from the dressing room is this will not be the case. The majority of players are said to agree with Martin's plan to stay put until a decision is made by the courts.

"It's really, really frustrating. Each week it seems like a different consortium is interested, but nothing seems to be getting done."

Like Brown before him, Martin said he just wanted to play football. Despite this, he insisted he does not regret his decision to return to his home club from Hucknall Town, despite other offers from Ryman League teams.
