TENANTS are furious at a decision to delay bringing their rent down to a comparable level with other council properties until April.
Tenants living in four-bedroom properties on the Drayton Bridge Road Estate in Drayton Bridge Road, West Ealing have been paying £173 per week for over 10 years, twice the amount paid by tenants on neighbouring estates.
A reduction to £128.40 was agreed before Christmas but on Tuesday last week it was confirmed that the reduction would come into effect in April.
Andy Smith, chairman of Drayton Green Residents' Association, said: "The reason we have to pay silly rent for another two months is that reducing it with immediate effect would be an admission of culpability on the council's part."
