DESPITE the rain, mud and traffic, thousands of fans made it to the Isle of Wight Festival yesterday (Thursday) for the opening night.
Once inside, fans enjoyed performances from the likes of The Stranglers and Primal Scream.
Following a set by Cerys Matthews, due to safety concerns caused by heavy rain and strong winds, the Big Top, was cleared of fans.
It remained closed for around 40 minutes.
