YET another sun-kissed festival and yet another legendary weekend.

Having three truly dissimilar acts headlining on the same bill is eclectic in itself but that’s without even considering the vast array of acts in the Big Top, the combination of Island acts and secret stars on The Acoustic Stage and the large number of DJ sets in bars the length and breadth of the festival site.

The music, of course, is just one ingredient of the unique recipe that makes the Isle of Wight Festival so special.

This year again provided something for everyone, Friday’s edgy and energetic show by the Prodigy sent thousands into a dancing frenzy, Stereophonics wowed the crowds with a set of anthemic hits and stunning professionalism and the legendary Neil Young closed the weekend with a sensational set of raw rock and roll.

There were also improvements this year, most notably to the new-look acoustic stage, where more than 50 Island acts performed alongside several surprise artistes.

The strength of the Big Top line up also posed some dilemmas for festival goers torn between the likes of Razorlight and Calvin Harris on Saturday.

One major highlight was the stunning 30-minute masterclass put on by the Red Arrows. That added yet another dimension to this year’s event.

Everything went to plan, according to festival organiser John Giddings, and once more the sun smiled on the Isle of Wight Festival, ensuring yet another memorable weekend.
