ISLANDERS considering a career in the Territorial Army have been invited to a recruitment event at Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth, tomorrow (Saturday).

A wide range of TA careers will be represented, from chefs, drivers and medics to infantrymen, engineers and signallers.

Visitors can try on kit and post their photos on Facebook or Twitter, try out equipment and find out more from soldiers about the opportunities available in the TA.

The event will include demonstrations and stands featuring ambulances, assault boats, weapon displays, armoured vehicles, mobile bridges, assault boats, and lightweight vehicles.

Recruitment officer Col Kevin Halus said: "This is a great way to demonstrate and educate people about the opportunities available with the TA and its contribution to the defence and security of the nation.

"There has never been a better time to be a Territorial Army soldier and we have so much to offer potential candidates – an active lifestyle, the opportunity for travel and adventure, as well as first-class training and access to further skills and qualifications.

"No matter what your talents, you can get involved."

The event begins at 11am and runs until 5pm.
