RESIDENTS will have the chance to find out more about the new role of police and crime commissioner tomorrow (Friday).
As with other parts of the country, the Isle of Wight and the rest of the Hampshire Constabulary area, is due to appoint its first commissioner in November.
The commissioner will play a key role in policing decisions including setting budgets and appointing the chief constable.
"However, the role is very much about the wider crime landscape as well as policing.
"It is not yet clear quite what this will mean for the elected PCC but they will be heavily involved in all aspects of policing and crime," said a Hampshire Police Authority spokesman.
The roadshow will be at Red Funnel Terminal West Cowes, tomorrow, from 4pm to 6.30pm.
