A FIRE broke out today (Monday) at a former care home on the Isle of Wight.
Firefighters were called to the empty property, formerly the Green Meadows residential care home, at Colwell Road, Freshwater, shortly after 4pm.
Thermal imaging cameras were used and two separate sources of fire were discovered on the first floor of the building, according to a spokesman for the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
Firefighters from Newport, Freshwater and Yarmouth remained at the scene for around an hour tackling the blaze.
Police are now investigating the incident, which is being treated as suspicious.
