Fire at Newport home

Firefighters have been called to a property in Newport today (Sunday) after fire broke out.

The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service received the call at 1pm and sent two appliances to the property in Elm Grove.

It is thought the blaze started in a bedroom and police are currently working with the fire service to establish the cause.

The possibility of arson has not been ruled out according to the fire service.

Scenes of Crime Officers have also been called to the incident.

No-one is thought to have been injured.
