Fire crews called to wood store blaze

FIRE crews from across the Isle of Wight were called to a fire at Froglands Farm, Carisbrooke, in the early hours of this morning (Monday).

Five fire engines went to the scene shortly after 2.30am after an outbuilding, used to store wood and gas cannisters, caught alight.

The ten metre by eight metre building was well ablaze, according to a spokesman for the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.

Crews equipped with breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera had extinguished the fire by 7.30am, although they remain on the scene this morning damping down.

No-one was injured.
