Firefighters assist with rescue

FIREFIGHTERS assisted Isle of Wight Ambulance Service this morning (Sunday) after a man fell over a bannister and was left stuck on a ledge at a Ventnor property.

Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was called to the address in South Grove Terrace at 0.12am by the ambulance service.

A fire and rescue service spokeswoman said the man had fallen over the bannister and the ambulance service needed help to get him down from a ledge.

The man was taken to St Mary's Hospital.
