Firefighters called due to flood fears

FIREFIGHTERS were called by householders concerned that large volumes of water flowing from a burst main would enter their homes.

An Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue service fire crew s stood by at Blythe Way, Shanklin, after receiving a call at 4.50am today (Friday). Engineers carried out emergency repairs.

A fire service spokesman said home owners were worried by "a considerable volume" of water.
