THE Island Free School has secured a temporary home in Ventnor.
The old St Boniface Primary School, in St Boniface Road, will be used for the first year while a new Isle of Wight school is built nearby.
Headmaster Steph Boyd said: "We are delighted to have secured this beautiful old building as our temporary home.
"We will soon be meeting with our Education Funding Agency project director, and our Centrprise (ICT) project manager, to plan the site development to ensure it meets the needs of our high quality secondary school."
The Island Free School, due to open this September, will have facilities including science, design technology, art and music suites as well as an artificial sports pitch, sports field and nature area.
Backed by National Trust land, the school is nestled beneath St Boniface Down and an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB).
The building was built in 1905, using local stone in 1905, with modern additions including a large hall.
People will be able to find out more about the school, community links and facilities at an event for parents, pupils and staff to be held after National Offer Day, which is on Monday, March 3.
