A FRINGE music festival to Quay Arts’ Isle of Wight Festival Kashmir Cafe has been announced for next Sunday, February 23.

The free event at Quay Arts, run in association with the Isle of Wight Festival, will feature live performances from Kashmir favourites and new Island acts, as well as festival food and real ale.

Rachel Day, project manager for live events said: "By developing Kashmir Fringe, we’re planning to inject the winter with a little bit of that magical festival vibe, with all the energy and dedication that goes into delivering Kashmir Cafe at the Isle of Wight Festival.

"The vast majority of Kashmir Cafe performers have worked with us throughout the year as part of Quay Arts’ regular showcase nights, Acoustic Originals, and many attend Platform One Music College."

She added: "We also bring more established acts from further afield and I think because of Kashmir’s great atmosphere performers have such a good time they nearly always want to come back."

Acts confirmed for the event, which kicks off at 2pm, include The Ohmz, Floella Grace, Sam Green and the Midnight Heist and Tankus The Henge.

Also on the day, in the Rope Store Gallery from 7pm, will also be a preview of Island photographer Lucy Boynton’s Camera on Kashmir exhibition.

The exhibition, which features photographs taken at the Kashmir Cafe and the festival, opens on Monday, February 24.
