Flood alert for coastline

A FLOOD alert for the Isle of Wight coast has been issued by the Environment Agency tonight (Tuesday).

The Environment Agency said: "The forecast high water level does not breach the flood alert conditions, but gale force winds and large waves are predicted and so there is some concern that the high water level may be greater than expected."

Flood alerts were issued earlier today for the Eastern Yar river and Monktonmead Brook in Ryde.

The Met Office is forecasting heavy rain overnight with gusts of over 50mph in the early hours of tomorrow morning (Wednesday).
