Flood Alert issued

A FLOOD alert has been issued for parts of the Isle of Wight tonight (Tuesday).

The Environment Agency has warned of possible flooding in the Eastern Yar and its tributaries from Whitwell to Bembridge.

According to the EA: "Heavy rain over Tuesday afternoon on a wet catchment has seen river levels rise on the Eastern Yar. 

"With further showers forecast through this evening, flooding of low lying land is expected along the Yar valley. 

"River levels are anticipated to peak on Wednesday morning."
