The hunt is on for somebody to help revitalise Twickenham, following the resignation last year of the first ever town development manager, Lorraine Jackson.

Steering group chairman Pat Schooling is looking for someone able to attract big name stores to the town, and capable of highlighting Twickenham's ``unique qualities.''

The Think Twickenham campaign is now in its second year and Mrs Schooling believes there is still a lot which can be achieved.

"We hope the development of Twickenham riverside will breathe extra potential into the heart of the town," she said. "We are determined to maximise the opportunities for all who live, work and visit here.

"We need someone with sound all round experience in communication and project management who can identify and obtain partnership funding and has a terrier-like persistence in getting things done."

The new post is funded jointly by Richmond Council and local businesses, including Boots, Iceland, Len Smith and Nat West Bank.
