Police seeking information about a young pregnant Rwandan woman who died shortly after she was found lying in Cherry Orchard Road are urging anyone who recognises her to contact them.

The 22-year-old woman, believed to be an illegal immigrant, died in Mayday Hospital on November 15 last year shortly after she was found outside an asylum centre in East Croydon.

Police have issued an artist's impression of the woman, who was able to tell hospital staff that her name was Annah Kaabwche.

Police Constable Cliff Betts from Croydon's Missing Persons Unit said: "It would help if we knew where she was living and how she came to be in this country. The immigration service has no details of her on record and it is hoped that a refugee or asylum organisation may be able to assist police, who are trying to confirm her identity, so relatives can be informed of her death."

Annah is described as black, 5ft 7ins tall and of slim build. She has shoulder length hair, brown eyes and a spotty complexion.

Anyone with information should call the Missing Persons Unit on 0208 649 0132.
