Flooding leads to road closure

FLOODING has led to disruption in Gunville.

The Isle of Wight Council said Gunville Road, from School Lane to Taylor Road, would be closed from 10pm last night (Wednesday) until further notice.

The closure was due to flooding at Gunville Lake, the council said.

Southern Vectis said Route 7 buses would divert via Wellington Road and would be unable to serve Carisbrooke High Street as a result.

Route 38 will divert via Wellington Road and Carisbrooke Road to Cedar Hill.

Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was called to the area last night to pump water away from the flooded areas. 

*According to the Isle of Wight Council the fire service hopes to re-open Gunville Road by 5pm today (Thursday)
