UPDATED 10:35*

THERE have been reports of flooding on some Isle of Wight roads this morning (Wednesday).

Heavy rain hit the Island last night and standing water and localised flooding has been reported in several areas.

The Environment Agency warned this morning of possible flooding in the Monktonmead Brook area of Ryde.

It said its pumping station was operating, but issued an Amber Warning.

It said the Met Office had a heavy rain alert in place until midday and said river levels were expected to rise.

High tide was expected at about midday and flooding of low-lying land and standing water on roads was expected.

According to the Isle of Wight Council, the areas affected included the Pound Lane junction of Yarmouth Road, Wellington Road in Carisbrooke and Fairlee Road in Newport.

Forest Road was closed earlier after two cars collided, however the road re-opened by 8.40am.

*Wightlink warned of possible disruption on its Lymington route at about 11.30am because of tides.

Police have issued advice for drivers in flooded areas, which can be viewed here.
