COWES chippie Corries Cabin will match customers' donations to the Isle of Wight Foodbank.
The shop has added a voluntary 25p donation to each table's bill in the restaurant, which it will then match.
Owner Richard Quigley said: "We saw the article in the County Press about the foodbank needing donations for food.
"They can't take 40 sacks of raw spuds, so I decided to go and see Hannah King, who runs the charity, to see what she thought about a regular monetary donation. People have been very generous so far. Many have paid the 25p and also donated extra.
"We hope to raise between £500 and £1,000 over the year."
Hannah said: "I'm really excited about this. We still need need lots of donations of food to keep us going, but support from local businesses like this is amazing.
"Hopefully a few more may be persuaded to try it out, even if just for a limited period of time."
