THREE cars have been involved in a serious crash on Forest Road this afternoon (Friday).

Several ambulances, fire engines and the police have been sent to the scene, close to the junction with Betty Haunt Lane.

The crash was reported at around 16:20 according to Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.

The fire service said one person was trapped and they were cutting them free from the vehicle.

Police closed Forest Road from the junction with Gunville Road.

Further traffic problems have been caused due to the closure of Middle Road, due to surface redressing, however the Isle of Wight Council said that road was due to re-open at 5pm.

A woman has been cut free from an R registration Honda at the junction of Whitehouse Road.

*Forest Road was re-opened by around 6pm.
