Aldenham's poor run continued on Saturday in a windswept match against lowly Evergreen.

The Blues should have had the game wrapped up by half-time, after almost total domination.

Despite Rob Botwright and Darren Wadkins dominating in midfield, Aldenham just could not get the final ball right. Numerous attacks fell apart with the final delivery, leaving strikers Dave Denty and Pete Holmes frustrated.

With the wind against them in the second half, Aldenham still enjoyed most of the possession, but went behind when a defensive slip up let Evergreen take the lead.

Aldenham equalised when top scorer Dave Denty collected Pete Holmes' head-on, but had his legs taken away. He picked himself up to make no mistake from the spot.

Having equalised it looked likely Aldenham would go on to secure the points, but they soon fell behind again, when an Evergreen free-kick swirled in the wind over stand in keeper Keith Whittal and ended in the top corner.

It was not Aldenham's day as both Andy Tomkins and Darren Wadkins had goal-bound efforts strike team-mates on the opponents goal line, and Pete Holmes' free kick brought a good save from the Evergreen keeper.

Joint Aldenham boss Andy Furniss was the Blues' man-of-the-match, and said: "It was awful, the wind played a part, but we're playing poorly at the moment.

"Some players need to look at themselves. Fortunately we have two players returning next week."

ALDENHAM: Whittal, Tomkins, Furniss, Gynne, Green, Rowe, Botwright, Wadkins, Gravatt, Holmes, Denty.
