An experienced artist has come up with an innovative way of taking his work straight to his audience.

Clive Ball, from Penge, is looking for people willing to hold exclusive "at home" events showing a selection of his own work.

The intention is to short-circuit the usual process and exhibit directly to people interested in his style of work. This approach also allows him to offer pieces at prices considerably below those charged by commercial galleries.

Clive said: "There are very few opportunities for aspiring artists to show their work directly to genuine art-lovers. Galleries are usually reluctant to offer expensive space to new and untried talent, preferring to concentrate on established artists."

Clive is looking for people willing to let him "borrow" their homes to stage exhibitions of his work for their friends.

Volunteers will need enough space to be able to invite 15 to 20 guests and be willing to act as joint host. In return they will be offered a choice of one of the original works.

Clive is a professional writer who paints locally. He has also worked in Tuscany, Andalucia and throughout southern England. This initiative follows his recent successful exhibition of watercolour and oil paintings held at Ripley Art Centre last November.

His watercolours are in a free style and employ a limited palette, giving his work freshness and spontaneity.

The subjects include floral paintings, local views and a selection of sea and skyscapes. He also explores more experimental themes.
