Shopkeepers in Gipsy Road, Gipsy Hill are over the moon about improvements being carried out to their previously neglected parade of shops.
Thanks to a grant from the Single Regeneration Budget, the pavements are being re-paved, new street lamps installed and seven trees planted.
Nicholas Benady, director of Nicholas Ashley Letting Agents, said traders were concerned about vandalism, the lack of proper street lighting and the generally run-down state of the area, so they got together with Lambeth Council and organised meetings to push for funding.
