Hendon experiment pays off

Hendon 24 Finchley 16

With no league fixture at the weekend Hendon experimented with a selection of new members in preparation for their next league match this Saturday against Centrams.

However, from the beginning the friendly match started with a dilemma for Hendon as their hooker was dismissed from the field for alleged foul play.

Finchley, playing downhill, took advantage of Hendon's plight and caught them offside three times converting all three kicks for a 9-0 lead.

As the game progressed Hendon steadied themselves and, from a dummy move by stand off Charlton, Richards burst through to score a Charlton-converted goal to narrow the score to 7-9.

Just on half time Finchley counter-attacked to score in the corner to put them nine points ahead at the break.

Dickens scored in the corner for Hendon after the turn round -- Charlton converting from the touchline to bring the home side to within two points of their visitors.

Charlton then slotted over a great drop goal to give Hendon a deserved lead before Scott beat several tackles to score under the posts and Charlton converted to make sure of a Hendon victory.
