THE small puffs of breeze which frustrated Sunday sailors were just what were needed for the diminutive flotilla in the annual Great Bembridge Paper Boat Race.
Full-size craft racing in the Bembridge Harbour Family Fun Weekend may not have had a lively time afloat but conditions were ideal in Bembridge Harbour for the dozens of paper boats in the adult and children’s paper boat classes held over a 50-metre course.
The owners of Bembridge Harbour and village organisations and businesses all pulled together to organise the fun weekend, which had activities and entertainment ashore and afloat on both days.
There were paddleboard and kayak taster sessions and races organised by Tackt-Isle Adventures, a sandcastle competition, children’s beach games and, for the first time, a crabbing contest.
