TO MARK the opening of the first-ever Aldi store on the Isle of Wight tomorrow (Thursday), the German supermarket company will be hosting a fun day.
Aldi will be handing out golden tickets to queuing customers at the Somerton store, giving them a chance to win prizes including a television and MP3 players.
There will be a ball pool and face painting throughout the day for youngsters.
Aldi area manager Fiona Smith said: "We are so excited to open our first store on the Isle of Wight and I can’t wait to see all of our new customers.
"We will have a great range of activities and we hope lots of residents can attend."
The store opens at 8am.

Tina - clearly irony is not your strong point. I was actually taking the widdle out of the widely held (especially here) 'scrounger' attitude....

Well, not wanting to miss out on the fun, I sunk a few pints, ordered a taxi, told the driver that I wanted to go to the superb new shop that was opening, then I joined the queue, had my face painted with a clowns mask, and promptly passed out. Just arrived home from A&E where I was told that I actually did not go to Aldi, and that the tattoo is permanent. Not quite sure how the wife will react when she gets home later.

Billy and ted how dissapointing you are while there is always a few unemployed everywhere,,Imyself and others are employed, and some going before work, not mentioning the pensioners who have worked and paid there taxes,to have free time to do what they want.e.g. all of us going to aldis, and actually welcoming new employment to our island.

Well done Steve, your superior knowledge of Black and White digital/non-digital reception capabilities has outed Mr/Mrs.Piper as someone who would use every topic to have a swipe at the poor unemployed. Thank heavens the Island has few people of that ilk......

Billy, I didn't think they made black and white 14" digital TVs. Never mind think of the svaings you are making by only buying a B&W licence!
