ISLANDERS got together on Red Nose Day to do something funny for money.


Schools, shops and societies all helped to contribute towards the £70 million raised nationally for Comic Relief.

At Lanesend Primary School, in Cowes, teachers got involved with the fundraising, as deputy headteacher Dave Cooper braved a head shave and Year 6 teacher Brett Evans had his legs waxed to raise £543.

Students at Medina College dug out their running shoes for a lunchtime fun run and raised £500. 

Youngsters at Holy Cross Primary School, in East Cowes donned their silly hats and made cakes.

TKMaxx in Newport sold the charity's Rankin designed t-shirts and staff rode exercise bikes in fancy dress to reach a £3,000 target. The store also had visits from Enchanted Isle and Leah Amer Pole Dance.
