Rayners stopped in their tracks

PEPPARD 1 RAYNERS LANE 0

A well placed 25-yarder 10 minutes into the second half stopped championship chasing Rayners Lane in their tracks on Saturday and spoilt Danny Mills' first match in charge of the side.

Experienced player Mills has just been appointed assistant manager and took over for the day as manager Dennis Bainborough was unavailable, but could not inspire the team to victory against a skilful and well drilled Peppard outfit.

But third-placed Lane should not feel too disheartened by this Chiltonian League Premier Division setback as although Peppard are only in mid-table, most of their season has been taken up by cup commitments and they remain unbeaten in the few league matches they have played. Indeed they could yet prove to be the division's top team.

Lane might start to worry if they do not get among the points this weekend when they play Prestwood - bottom of the league with only one point and with 30 goals against them thus far.
