Blackheath battled the gales and storms to take part in the only rugby game to be played in the south west of England, only to lose 24-20 against Redruth.
Club opened the scoring in the second minute when Peter Dack ran through the defence to crash over after a good move. Chris Trace converted.
But Redruth then scored 17 points without reply by half-time.
A more determined Club emerged in the second half and Trace kicked three points. But Redruth went further in front to make it 24-10.
Blackheath now piled on the pressure and with six minutes to go, Trace scored in the corner, but missed the kick. Dack scored another try to pull it back to 24-20, but the conversion was missed by Trace.
The last few minutes were rousing but Redruth held on to win a shade fortunately.
