PEOPLE will have the opportunity to talk rubbish when a waste roadshow visits a number of locations in St Albans during March.

Members of The Waste Strategy Development Group and St Albans District Council will be on hand to find out what people think of their plans to deal with the growing waste problem in the county.

Visitors to three roadshows will be able to find out more about the council's plans to manage Hertfordshire's rubbish in a more environmentally-sound way.

At the heart of the draft plan lies the ambition to exceed the national recycling legal standards by recycling and composting at least 50 per cent of all household waste by 2012.

The plan proposes to give homes special bags or boxes to encourage recycling.

Councillor Iris Tarry, chairman of the waste strategy development group, said: "Pressure is building to change the way we manage our rubbish in Hertfordshire. It is vital that we have a plan to deal with it."

Residents can visit one of the roadshows at St Albans, in front of the Alban Arena, on Wednesday, March 13, outside Sainsbury's in London Colney on Saturday, March 16, and at Harpenden Public Halls on Wednesday, April 3.

The roadshows will be there from 10am to 4pm to answer your queries.
