GALES were the latest challenge faced by an Isle of Wight man taking on a perilous voyage for charity.
Richard Nicolson, is sailing 800km through the Northwest Passage in aid of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.
Yesterday (Thursday) the 46-year-old Cowes sailor was forced to anchor his boat Dodo's Delight near Barter Island, off Alaska, due to gales.

What GALE? The weather service reports only 15-20kts of wind - a GALE is 34 knots to 47 knots... I think he has his bowline confused with his half-hitch?
