SO SUCCESSFUL was Wolverton Manor Garden Fair this weekend that even the overflow car park overflowed.
An estimated 6,500 people attended the fair over the weekend, organiser Roger Phillips describing it as one of the most successful of the 13 with which he has been involved.
"It makes all the work of so many people worthwhile," said Mr Phillips.
"Saturday was a good day, but Sunday was even better. The weather was with us and the public really enjoyed an event which blends entertainment with the best traders.
"Backbone of the show is gardening and we had some fantastic nurseries taking part.
"It’s an indicator of the success when you have to open-up the second overflow car park — we’ve never had to do that before."
Sponsored by the Isle of Wight County Press and Red Funnel, the fair in the grounds of the historic Wolverton Manor — provided for the weekend by owners Mark and Jane Patterson — raises much-needed funds for Age UK (Isle of Wight).
