TORRENTIAL rain did not deter a small but dedicated group of 'guerilla gardeners’ from returning to Frank James Hospital in East Cowes last Sunday.
Friends of Frank James, who first came together in March to restore the grounds of the former hospital to their former glory, cleared more brambles from the site.
They have issued an open letter to the site owners calling for collaboration and a face-to-face meeting to find a way to restore the building.
The community gardeners say they are not troublemakers but local people with a genuine love of the hospital, who do not want to see it crumble and lost forever.
One said: "The fact the building appears to be getting unwelcome attention only emphasises the urgent need for Frank James Hospital’s future to be more secure and used for the benefit of the community."
