THOUSANDS of people turned out for what has been hailed the 'best ever' Isle of Wight Garlic Festival at the weekend.
The popular Newchurch event, which was sponsored by the Isle of County Press, combined good food, shopping, fairground attractions, demonstrations, live music and of course garlic.
Festival chairman David Holmes said: "We survived the challenges and the weather on Saturday. A particularly enjoyable moment for me was when The Beach Buoys were singing about California sunshine as the rain lashed down!
"The whole team is really happy with the weekend and have been saying that this was the best ever Garlic Festival."
Entertainment included demonstrations by top Isle of Wight chefs and music from the likes of Chesney Hawkes and Island talent Lucid and Ska’d for Life.
