Fire crews evacuated 20 people from a recycling plant in Sandown this morning, following the explosion of a gas cylinder.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service received the call at around 10.53am, this morning.
Crews from Sandown, Shanklin, and Ventnor were sent to the H.J. Bennett premises, on Faulkner Lane, where an acetylene gas cylinder had exploded.
One person was treated for minor injuries on site, by an ambulance team.
One of the company's HGV vehicles is believed to have been damaged.
Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters stayed on site to cool the cylinder down.
Acetylene is mixed with oxygen during steel welding. It is extremely flammable and often very unstable.
