YOUNG families can get gardening with TV expert Alan Titchmarsh, the Footprint Trust and Barnardo's.
The new project, set to launch in spring 2018, will encourage young families to get gardening.
Run through the Footprint Trust, it will offer gardening training to children and their families at Barnardo's family centres across the Isle of Wight.
Harvesting and cookery sessions will follow in the summer, supported by grant funding from Alan Titchmarsh through the IW Community Foundation.
Alan Titchmarsh, who unveiled the event, at West Newport Family Centre in Wellington Road, at the end of July, said: "Children love nature and seeing things grow and, to be able to encourage the whole family to source a healthy, nutritious meal from a tiny seed is a wonderful opportunity.
"All parents know how hard it can be to encourage their children to eat healthily and getting the kids involved in digging up a handful of ripe carrots, or picking some fresh runner beans and then being able to prepare and cook, or bake a dish like a stir fry or carrot cake will encourage kids to engage to a much greater extent with nutrition."
