Go Orange day at Ryde Inshore Rescue in 2012.
INDEPENDENT lifeboats on the Isle of Wight will benefit from two days of fun this weekend, thanks to the Go Orange campaign.
On Friday, children at Gatten and Lake Primary School, Shanklin CE Primary, The Bay CE Primary and Broadlea Primary will have a mufti-day and a quiz night will be held at the Broadway Inn, Totland, from 9pm.
On Saturday, a disco will be held at Holliers Hotel in Shanklin, a karaoke night will take place at The Sun Inn at Hulverstone, West Wight Social Club in Freshwater is holding a disco, bag-packers will raise funds at Co-op and Sainsbury's in Freshwater, crew member Anthony Roper will be working at Marvins Estate Agents in Freshwater and Isle of Wight Salsa will host a charity dance at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club in the evening.
Throughout both days Freshwater Conservative Club is holding a pool competition, the Sugar Loaf Cafe in Avenue Road, Freshwater, is selling a special cake to raise funds and collections will take place around Ryde, Lake and Shanklin.
Red Funnel has also backed the appeal and staff at its East Cowes terminal will be dressed in orange, collecting cash over the weekend.
Mark Birch, of Sandown and Shanklin Inshore Rescue, said: "We are so happy that yet another company wants to help us promote Go Orange and to have Red Funnel on board is great news."
