Go-ahead for school site homes plan

The former Swanmore Middle School.

A NEW housing development earmarked for the former Swanmore Middle School in Ryde has been approved.

Members of the Isle of Wight Council's planning committee granted outline permission for the demolition of the school and the redevelopment of the site in Bettesworth Road, Ryde, with 24 homes.

This is hardly surprising given that the applicant was one 'Isle of Wight Council' - i.e they were awarding themselves permission.
