WITH the London 2012 Olympics just around the corner, students at Sandown Bay Academy decided on a pure gold theme for this year's prom.
The event for Year 11 pupils and staff, took place at Cowes Yacht Haven and featured a two-course meal, followed by a disco organised by Isle of Wight Radio's Heather McCallum.
Head of Year 11, Andy Green, said: "The event went very well. I must congratulate the students who were all impeccably behaved and made the night a huge success. It's the largest turnout we've ever had for a Year 11 prom.
"I must also say a huge thank you to teacher, Jill King, for all her wonderful work with the students while they were in Years 9 and 10."
Student, Reyanna Barrier was given an extra surprise by students and teachers, in the form of a cake with an exploding candle, to celebrate her 16th birthday.
This year's prom prince was Timothy Pearl, 16, while Polly Hopper, 16, was nominated as prom princess.
