A VALUABLE gold Krugerrand coin and other distinctive items have been reported stolen from a house in Ryde.
Isle of Wight police have launched an investigation after the coins were reported stolen from a house in Dover Street. They were taken sometime between Monday, October 1 and Monday, October 8, 2012.
Investigating officer Det Con Andy Cooper of Isle of Wight CID said: "A one ounce gold South African Krugerrand coin and a silver plated 1920s trinket box with the letter "N" on top was reported stolen along with other jewellery.
"Police would like to speak to anyone who has been offered a Krugerrand or silver plated jewellery box in recent weeks."
Police arrested a 56-year-old man from Ryde on Saturday, October 20, 2012 on suspicion of theft. He has been bailed until November 23 pending further enquiries.
