Good for pupils

Carisbrooke Castle has been awarded the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge.

TWO Isle of Wight attractions have received a new award for school trip destinations.

The English Heritage sites, Carisbrooke Castle and Osborne House, were awarded the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, a new national benchmark for educational visits.

They were among 24 other English Heritage sites around the country to receive the mark of excellence.

The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom devised the award to help teachers choose venues to take students, where there was an emphasis on learning, activities and safety.

Sandra Stancliffe, English Heritage's head of education and interpretation said: "We welcome tens of thousands of children to our sites each year. This award provides national recognition for the work our staff and education experts have put it in."
