BLOCKBUSTER stores on the Isle of Wight are safe from closure for now, administrators have confirmed.
On Saturday administrators for the entertainment rental firm, Deloitte, announced 129 store closures, in addition to 31 stores including Cowes, already due to close.
But a spokeswoman said today that the Island’s three other stores, in Shanklin, Ryde and Newport, were not among the 129 due to be axed.
Further closures have not been ruled out however.

This is indeed very good news! Maybe Blockbusters might think about being more online based as a support to keep stores open too. I couldn't possibly justify spending so much money renting a film from blockbusters when I could watch as many as I want at the push of a button on Netflix for £6 a month, which is great when you don't have telly.

Indeed good news.William, Having been made redundant 4 times in my career, I can assure you it is the most appalling feeling to be told your services are no longer required.I think the real challenge for Blockbuster will be how they compete against VOD or by-mail rental services like LoveFilm.

Great news for the staff. Those of us that have secure jobs or have retired can't possibly realise how frightening it must be to be told that you are going to lose your job. Good luck.
