THE Isle of Wight is able to boast two winners of this year’s Green Flag Award from Keep Britain Tidy.

Shanklin Voluntary Youth and Community Centre (VYCC), in partnership with the Green Town initiative, has earned the Green Flag Award for an eighth time, together with Fort Victoria Country Park at Yarmouth, to ensure their statuses of being among the best in Britain in keeping parks and green spaces clean and tidy.

Shanklin VYCC, based in Victoria Avenue, Shanklin, with Green Town volunteers, looks after the Shanklin Community Library site, the town’s war memorial and Shanklin Railway Station.

Keep Britain Tidy included the winners among its list of 1,476 parks and green spaces around Britain to receive the award this year.
