Green light for new shops

NEW shops and maisonettes can be built on a car park, following a decision by the Isle of Wight Council this week.

Planners approved plans to redevelop the Well Street car park in East Cowes with a three-storey building of four retail units and nine maisonettes.

East Cowes Town Council had opposed the scheme on the basis it was over-development and out of character with the conservation area.
