ACROSS the Island families will be descending on various fireworks events to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night this weekend.

The Island's Bonfire Night calendar gets underway this evening (Friday) with an event at Bembridge Youth and Community Centre, Steyne Park, Bembridge.

This year, there will be stalls inside the hall, food stalls outside and Lane End Downbeat providing dance music on the terrace.

Fireworks start 7.30pm.

There will be live music, dance and fireworks during Sandown's Guy Fawkes celebrations on the Esplanade tomorrow (Saturday).

The event, run by Sandown Carnival Association, will kick off at 4pm, with the fireworks launched from the pier at 8pm.

The Rotary Club of Ryde, supported by Ryde Town Council, will be holding its Fireworks Extravaganza from the grounds of Haylands Primary School tomorrow.

There will be a barbecue, sweet treats and oodles of family entertainment, with the firework display at 7pm.

Also tomorrow, live music and family entertainment will feature at the Spooks and Sparks firework night event at Victoria Recreation Ground, Newport, from 4pm.

The grand firework display starts at 7pm.

Blackgang Chine will be hosting its end of season celebration party tomorrow.

Music will be provided by DJ Omar and there will be a fire show, circus and fairy dancing workshops and 3D animation. Musical fireworks from the cliff top start at 9pm.

Families from all over the West Wight will descend on Yarmouth Common for a packed evening of activities on Sunday (5).

A Guy competition and other entertainments start in the town square at 6pm, followed by a torchlight procession to the Common.

The firework display will start at around 7pm.
