HAMPSHIRE police will lose 15 dogs and handlers by 2019.
Police have been forced to make budget cuts and the dog handling unit is the latest section to be hit by the cutbacks.
A spokesperson for the unit said on social media: "Hugely disappointing doesn't begin to describe emotions within the unit."
John Apter, chairman of Hampshire Police Federation, called the situation "bloody disgraceful."
He said: "It is short sighted and extremely damaging.
"The team already struggles to cope with the demand, these reductions will mean they will become less effective and risk further cuts."
