BEMBRIDGE Harbour Trust has stepped up its drive to gather public support as administrators prepare to put the harbour on the market.
Following the trust’s first public consultation meeting in Bembridge Village Hall in July, the trust held meetings in Seaview and St Helens to involve residents in its plans and to take on board suggestions for the running of the harbour if the bid was successful.
Further meetings are planned in the autumn by the trust, which expects to raise not less than £1 million.
The Seaview meeting was held at Sea View Yacht Club where a presentation about the trust was made by past chairman Donald Biddle, who was standing in for the current chairman, Michael MacInnes.
A well-attended meeting in the Community Centre in St Helens was held the following evening.
This time Felix Hetherington, a trustee and local resident, took the chair.
• Organisers say people who want to support the Save Bembridge Harbour appeal can find the financial pledge form on the trust’s website www.bembridgeharbourtrust.org
