THE OLYMPICS are over, but not for Arreton’s popular wooden hare.
The sculpture, near the entrance to Arreton Old Village, has been awarded its own gold medal and a Union flag has been draped around the carved magpies alongside him.
Residents have dubbed the wooden winner Haresain Bolt, after record-breaking Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt.
The carving was created in 2008 by chainsaw artist Paul Sivell from a leylandii stump and paid for by Arreton Parish Council and the Island 2000 Trust.

This was the famous landmark that was stolen a while back, I hope that medal is glued on!!
